Our Story
Swimtraxx was founded in 2018 by Jeroen Lecoutere, a former competitive swimmer and biomedical engineer who saw a critical gap in swimming technology. While other sports had advanced wearables delivering real-time metrics, swimmers were left with devices designed primarily for running or cycling — tools that couldn’t capture the nuances of life in the water.
Jeroen set out to build something different: a lightweight, goggle-mounted device purpose-built for swimming. One that could track heart rate from the temple, count strokes, detect swim styles, measure turn times, and do it all without interfering with technique.
Co-Created with Champions
The Swimtraxx One wasn’t developed in isolation. It was co-created with some of the most accomplished names in competitive swimming:
- Femke Heemskerk — Olympic, World & European swimming champion. Femke was instrumental in refining the Swimtraxx One’s design and functionality from a swimmer’s perspective.
- Pieter Timmers — Olympic medalist (Rio 2016, 100m freestyle). Pieter provided continuous feedback on system functionality, ensuring it meets the demands of elite-level training.
Their real-world input, combined with feedback from coaches worldwide, shaped a device that is truly built by swimmers, for swimmers.
